Top 30 Songs for Oct. 31-Nov. 6, 2021

I just love Lord Huron’s music, and their beautiful “Mine Forever” remains at the pinnacle of my Weekly Top 30 for a 3rd week. Imagine Dragons’ “Wrecked” and The Zangwills’ “Never Looked Back” hold at #2 and #3, and Roadkeeper’s “Take the L” climbs a notch to #4. Four songs enter the top 10 this week: Two Feet’s “Don’t Bring Me Down” and Adele’s “Easy on Me”, both of which leap nine spots to #5 and #6, respectively, Glass Animals “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)” and WALK THE MOON’s “Can You Handle My Love??” The jolting and raw “Survivor” by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats took a while to grow on me but now I love it, and it jumps eight spots to #16. Debuting this week are three great new songs: “Love Love Love” by My Morning Jacket, “Good Friend” by dwi, and “Starts With You” by Shimmer Johnson.

    Just letting you know that your Top 30 playlist has singlehandedly helped me lose about 25 pounds over the past 6 months or so by motivating me to listen to it while walking (very briskly, I might add) a good 2.5 miles almost every day. I may not absolutely LOVE every song on the list every week, but you’ve introduced me to so many great new songs and artists that it’s always, always worth the listen. Great job, Jeff.

    1. Hey John G in STL, this really means a lot to me! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my playlists, and that I’ve helped motivate you toward getting healthier. I’ve been trying to lose weight myself (though not having much luck), and listen to music as I walk too. I hope you’ll continue listening! As you may recall, I lived in STL, from 1995-2011.

        I do recall that! We probably crossed paths at some point, who knows. Oh, and I am finally going to get to see Two Feet in a couple weeks. In Chicago, at a small venue. That show had been cancelled twice due to Covid. Every other show of his for the rest of the year and well into next is sold out, but I got a ticket to this one–I think by dumb luck. I’ve had his new stuff on repeat so I’m familiar with it. Of course, his entire discography is simply stunning, as you’re aware. Thanks, again, for your insights and for sharing your passion with us.
